Management Buy Out: Een Paleis Revolutie? In de scriptie staat centraal de effectiviteitsverandering van organisaties die zijn verzelfstandigd door middel van management buy out. Eerder onderzoek heeft aangetoond dat een groot deel van de organisaties na management buy out beter gaat presteren. Veel management buy out’s lijken ’success stories’ maar tot op heden is onvoldoende onderzoek gedaan naar de oorzaken van deze prestatieverbetering.

Aangenomen wordt dat als het management deelneemt in het eigen vermogen van de organisatie, de organisatie efficiënter en effectiever gaat functioneren. Dit omdat de deelname in het eigen vermogen leidt tot een ander belang en handelen van het management. Of dit werkelijk zo is, blijft vooralsnog onbeantwoord. Naast de vraag of er sprake is van een effectiviteits-verandering en welke oorzaken hieraan ten grondslag liggen, voeren we op de achtergrond een discussie omtrent het individuele handelen van managers en de determinanten die dit handelen beïnvloeden.
