In cooperation with the Department of Strategic Management and Business Environment of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Erasmus University, a survey was developed with a focus on corporate governance practices in the Netherlands. The aim of the Index is to provide reliable and detailed information to non-executive directors and executive directors, investors and others interested in developments and trends in Dutch board practices.
In addition to widely available data, the first edition of the Index has revealed additional rich information on board practices in the Netherlands.
It found board committee structures, board evaluation schemes and many other interesting aspects of Dutch non-executive boards. It contains no recommendations or any classifications.
The Index is based on 50 of the country’s largest companies. Initially, board information in the Index is culled from annual reports, by-laws, and other publicly accessible data. In addition, chairmen of participating non-executive boards have been interviewed and surveyed on topics including board committee structures, board composition and compensation schemes. The results of the survey are based on a sixty percent response rate.
